Reading the markets…

A median, not one market. Each crop shows the median of the fresh sources, and only when at least three agree to be read. One odd market cannot move it much.
Never a guess. A market that could not be read says so. Old prices fade and are not counted.
Which tomato? There are hundreds of kinds, and the markets price them apart: on 24 September in Gran Canaria cherry tomatoes were 3.50 €/kg and plain round reds 1.25-3.15. The board counts the ordinary round red tomato (plus Roma in New York) and leaves cherry and specialty kinds out. Tap a market to see exactly which lines it used.
A compass, not a peg. A city Tomato cannot be swapped for a real tomato, and the board does not set its pool price. Nothing here promises a price rise.

These medians are written to Arc once a day, to our WorldFoodPrices contract. Any app or AI agent can read what a real kilo of tomatoes costs straight from the chain by calling latest("Tomato"). It is data, not an asset: nothing is owned, backed, bought or sold.

API for agents: GET /api/real-prices. The latest raw files are kept with their SHA-256, so every number can be re-derived.
